The Annual Japan Festival will once again highlight the best in Japanese music, dance, martial arts, culture and Anime at the “Forest View Educational Center”
The 27th Japan Festival is presented by the Mid America Japanese Club (MAJC) in Partnership with District 214 Community Education.
The annual festival features:
l Two entertainment stages - Koto, Shinobue, Okinawa Taiko Drums and Dances, Choirs, Japanese Folk Dances, Chano-Yu (Tea Ceremony, 11:00 AM), Marshall Arts - Aikido, Judo, Iaido (Iaido is the art of reacting to a surprise attack by counter attacking with a sword.) and more.
l Culture Exhibition Hall - Ikebana (Japanese Flower Arrangements), Miyuki Art Flowers and Katana (Japanese swords)
l Taste of Japan by Benihana Restaurant has always been the center of attraction - Sushi, Chicken Teriyaki, and more
l Market Place (Arts and Crafts) -- Hand Crafts, Cards, Japanese Books, Fabric Crafts and Kimono.
l 60 photo exhibition of Osaka (Special Event) – Celebrating the 35th year sister city relations between Osaka and Chicago
l Anime Screenings (New) – SteamBoy (June 21, Sat, 4:00 pm), Kiki’s Delivery Service, Naruto, InuYasha
l Information Tables will also be presented by Travel Agents and other Japanese Organizations.
l Raffle Tickets will be sold on site. The prizes include a Grand Prize round trip to Japan, as well as cash prizes and more.
